Would you like to join our unit? We are always looking for fresh ideas and we would be happy for you to join the team! The Bay Park unit meets the third Wednesday of each month (Sept-May), the dues are $50.00. This year we will also be having Bay Park Jr Auxiliary- This is a way for the Bay Park young adults to join our unit and start fundraising and give back to the Hospital many of them have visited over the years.

At the unit level we help the hospital through the following programs:

Brown Bag donations:

Bay Park unit and the School of the Madeleine 2nd and 8th-grade students put together Brown Bags with health snacks for the emergency room. We are asked to make 50 bags per unit but we exceed expectations every year by donating over 400 Brown Bags to the ER Department.

ER Department Clothes Closet:

We are asked from time to time to donate clothes to replenish the Emergency Room closet with t-shirts, sweatpants, sweatshirts, and shorts for kids that come into the ER and may have soiled clothes, so they have clean clothes to go home or be admitted to the hospital in.

Bernardy Center birthday parties or child sponsorship:

The Bernardy Center is filled with medically fragile kids who live at the center full time. They are extremely sick and, in most cases, cannot be cared for at home or their families live elsewhere.

The Bay Park unit adopted a little boy named Kai last year. We have been able to help his family with a playpen and a high chair. At Christmas, we get a wish list, and our unit tries to fulfill his parents’ needs.

We also pick a month to have a birthday party for all the kids who have a birthday that month. We bring a craft (age and ability) and a treat provided by us. This is all coordinated by our Hospital Liaison Rep.

Chadwick Center donations:

We provide as-needed donations periodically.

Cheers to Good Health:

This is Bay Park Unit's biggest fundraiser of the year! This is an “all hands on deck” event! We work together to get sponsorships, donations for auction baskets, and gift cards for the gift card wall. We have had up to 300 people at our event which is held in March with a St. Patrick’s Day theme.

Each year we vote on the new designation of funds…...we have supported the Sam and Rose S. Stein Emergency Room (2022) and the Autism Discovery Institute (2023) this year we will be funding the Children & Adolescent Psychiatry Services-CAPS (2024).

Auxiliary Wide Fundraising Events:

Rady Children’s Hospital Ice Rink (Nov-Jan): This is the Point Loma Unit fundraiser combined with the foundation that raises a lot of money for the Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. The Bay Park unit participates in the member day, usually the first Saturday of December. We have a time slot to sit in the Auxiliary tent and answer any questions about the Auxiliary.

UTC Giftwrap (Dec): Sign up to volunteer at the gift-wrapping station at Westfield UTC. All donations go to Greater Giving to the Hospital.

Jersey Mikes Month/Day of Giving (March): Our Jersey Mikes Rep will assign volunteers from our unit to greet customers and hand out cookies at the Jersey Mikes store we are assigned to. We will have a lunch shift (11-1) and a dinner shift. (5-7). This is one of the biggest fundraisers for the Auxiliary. During the month of March Jersey Mikes collects donations and on the Day of Giving, 100% of all the Jerseys Mike's sales in San Diego County go to Rady Children’s Hospital- San Diego. Each year the Jersey Mike team picks the designation of funds.
